A Distant Memory

CLICK READ MORE It's like a distant memory, One nearly forgotten, and yet so familiar, It should've fallen victim to the flow of time, Yet it didn't, and just wouldn't disappear. What's keeping this memory from fading away? What's so strong to protect it, and make it stay? Is it joy or love, is it showing me a way? Is it fear or terror, leading me astray? Why does it keep bringing me back to that day?
Dreams are meant to be forgotten

CLICK READ MORE (Note: I'm talking about the sleeping kind of dreams, not the goals and achievements kind, those are much more complicated, and I could and probably will write a poem about those kinds of dreams at some point) There's a reason why we seem to forget our dreams the second we wake, and even for the more impactful dreams, we still forget them within a day. When we dream, at least when I dream, I don't realize I'm in a dream until it ends. So if there was a way to keep a dream from ending, one can technically control reality because that dream would be their own and only reality. The most obvious "counterparts" to dreams in the real world are memories, and if one were to confuse their dreams with their memories, the consequences could be devastating. This is the reason why we are built to forget our dreams and discard them simply as a byproduct of our sleeping sessions. But memories take significantly longer to forget, because unlike dreams which do...

CLICK READ MORE The smell of the salty ocean, The crash of the mighty waves, My mind flooded with emotion, Stuck in my own dark caves I saw the light at the end, Of this long and dreadful cavern, Within that light I saw a friend, Whom's ways I yearned to learn How did they find their way, Between here and there, All I could see was grey, I worried how I’ll fare I ran and ran, pushing my soul, My eyes focused only on the goal, And in doing so, I failed to see, All that was right in front of me I kept falling down, And while I kept getting up, I always wore a frown, And was close to giving up The smell of the salty ocean, The crash of the mighty waves, I took a deep breath, And steadied my pace From the small elegant pebbles, To the large monstrous rocks, And the air that resembles, The indoors of the outdoors, I was trapped in an open box I took in all of it, The sights, smells, and sounds, Even though I was in a pit, I knew I could get out As I stopped tryi...

CLICK READ MORE The cold hard raindrops felt like shards of glass Mud on my legs, as I ran through the grass, All my limbs were tired and sore, But I kept walking, just a little more. Time does not stop, so my will will not drop, Until I reached what my eyes seeked, I will not fall, I cannot be weak, There is still a long way to the peak. I pushed through the rain, Stood up as it poured down, I endured the pain, Refusing to drown (my sight on the crown). And at last, the darkness faded, The rain stopped, the cold vacated, The clouds parted, light shone through, The sky was back to being blue. -Ven
What Makes Us Human?

People say that no matter how hard you try, you can never be someone you just aren’t meant to be. After all, dogs can’t become people, and people can’t fly like birds. But I want you to take a step back, look at everything from a much greater perspective, let your thoughts roam free as they try to comprehend the perplexing vastness of this world, and then zero in on us. What makes us human? By the definition that we have created, with this thing called science, which we use to justify most things that we encounter, humans are a mass of cells, tissues, and organs, that grow, reproduce, and respond to stimuli. Well, that’s a pretty accurate answer isn’t it. So therefore, because what physically makes us is what defines us as human beings, it means that we can never be something else, and something else can never be us. But that’s not the “greater perspective” I was talking about earlier, is it? So instead, let’s change our perception of what makes us human for a second...

Hello my fellow lovely Earthians. Welcome to my, well, website if you will. This place will be the home to many weird and wonderful poems, short stories, random photoshop projects, etc... I know nothing about this platform that I am using to create this website, so you can go ahead and mess around with whatever ends up on the final webpage. If you are here reading this right now, thank you for taking the 2 seconds out of your day that it takes to get here, and I hope you have a good time.
